Maximiliano "Gytano" Paradiso (Argentina)

"Tango Discovery" program
13-15 July 2007

Maximiliano Gytano Paradiso (Home page, profile and email) was born in Buenos Aires Argentina. He grew up surrounded by tango under the influence by his grandfather "el ruso", a very known milonguero. He studied it with some of its most important exponent such as Nito y Elba, Omar vega, osvaldo y Miguel Angel Zotto, Pablo Veron, Junior Cervila, Los Dinzels, Mauricio Castro, Carlos Gavito, and others, and assisted some of them in their teachings.

He has performed in some of the most important tango events around the world including the New York Tango Festival, the National Tango day in Buenos Aires, as well as at the Hollywood Bowl with Los Angeles Philarmonic Orchestra, and the Tango Pasion choreoghapher Hector Zaraspe, at the Bass Hall of Dallas and the Costa Mesa Performing Arts Center. He performed at the off broadway Thalia Spanish Theater for three years. In the musical Tangomania for the 2004 the show got an award winner season.

Gytano studied oriental philosophy and other type of dance movements that can take the student in a playful and non-competitive atmosphere to a better and deeper understanding of the tango. He is currently living and teaching in Japan and Asia in general.

His teaching also draws from the Tango Discovery system, a pedagogical approach to teaching tango, developed by Mauricio Castro, that has now become quite popular due to the publication of two Tango Discovery books and several CD-ROMs (see official Tango Discovery website).

Meet the Maestro: Gytano will be dancing at the Fri 13/feb milonga at Abrazos "San Telmo" Milonga. Come and discover his spontaneous style of dance.

Other Issues
  • No partner? You are encouraged to come with a partner of the same level -- best way is to come for practicas before the workshop to meet other tangueros, and make arrangement to come to the same session. For lower level classes, there will be rotation of partners during the class for unpartnered participants. For higher level classes, you need to have a fixed partner for best learning results.

  • Videography Please ask instructor for permission before taping. Instructor usually do a recap of the lesson in the last 10 minutes for Q&A -- that is the best time to record.

  • Late Registration Please note the cut-off date for pre-registration. If you miss the deadline, you can still enjoy the lower rate by taking a season pass of 4 or more classes. Once you are pre-registered you can add more classes at the same preferred rate later.

  • Cancellation of class We reserve the right to cancel a class if the number of participants is too few. You will be given a credit to redeem at another workshop.

  • No-Shows We assume all tangueros to be credit-worthy, so we do not ask for pre-payment when you register. But if you fail to show up for a class after booking, your "good credit" record will become tainted and in future you may be required to pre-pay for class.

  • Out of Town: If you are visiting from outside Singapore, contact us if you need any help or information -- our hotline is 96373512 or email info@tangoeast.com
